Make no mistake, I am a big, big, David Baldacci fan. I have read all of his work, 16 books in total. I enjoy his different franchises and his many characters. Shaw and company may soon supplant the Camel Club for me. When I told my significant other this she gasped in surprise. How could I even think of not having Oliver Stone at the top of my Baldacci list? Simple, very Simple.
First off, the guy’s name just rocks,;Shaw or his full name of A. Shaw. He is kind of like Bono or Sting in that regard except he just kicks butt and takes names later. Then you have the fact that he shot his boss in the head. Frank, his Boss still lives and Frank cares very much for Shaw but wears a hat to cover up the new crater in his skull. How can you not love that? Baldacci gives Shaw’s personality so many different dimensions in this novel; it is hard not to root and fall in love with the guy.
Deliver Us From Evil is an amazing, quick paced novel of intrigue and defiance. It has a great bad guy that you can really despise and sink your teeth into, an awesome hero in Shaw, the supporting cast is excellent and they grow on you quickly. Baldacci delivers plot twist after plot twist keeping Shaw and company on their toes the entire novel from word one to the last period. There is not much more that one could ask from a novel in this genre. Who is your favorite Baldacci character?
